Basics of Recreational


  1. Must be 15 years old and above.
  2. Should be none-smoker
  3. Must have a current medical certificate.
  4. Must be able to swim 15m on a breath hold
  5. Must be able to swim 100m in under 3 min.
  6. Must meet the general fitness level for this course
  7. Release form, training contract and other documents have to be signed


The ISE Recreational Diver curriculum is dedicated to cultivate comfortable, competent and confident divers from the beginning that do not impact the environment. It allows them to maximize aquatic fun and safety. This course is designed to prepare them for continous education like the ISE Recreational Workshops. 


The class is conducted in:

  1. minimum of 4 theoritical lectures
  2. 3 x Pool or confined water for comfort building and skin diving
  3. minimum of 5 open water dives


General limits:

  1. Single backmount configuration only
  2. No decompression,
  3. Gasses: Air (Nitrox 32 for safety)
  4. No overhead environment (i.e caves/wrecks).
  5. Max depth 18m. 

Instructor to student ratio:

  1. Pool 1:2 or 1:4 with an ISE training assistant
  2. Confined water 1:2 or 1:4 with an ISE training assistant
  3. Open water 1:2 or 1:3 with an ISE training assistant
